Hurricane Rebuild

Our Sanibel Dream has completed reconstruction and began accepting guests in February 2025. The pool and spa re-opened in April 2025 and work continues on the brand new pool pavilion (completion expected in Summer 2025). Construction of the new community building (the former F building) will also begin in 2025!

Hurricane Ian had a devastating impact on Sanibel Island when it made landfall on September 28, 2022, as a Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph and a storm surge of up to 15 feet. The Sanibel Causeway, the only road connecting the island to the mainland, was severely damaged, cutting off access to the island. Remarkably, the Causeway was reopened just three weeks after Hurricane Ian struck. The island suffered extensive damage and has been rebuilding since late 2022.

The original condo (Unit C2) pictured below suffered extensive damage from the storm, but, fortunately, the buildings maintained their structural integrity.

The unit was completely gutted after Hurricane Ian. Following our purchase in 2023, we began a 100% custom rebuild of the condo inward from the concrete walls. And so began the construction of Our Sanibel Dream!

Although progress was slow, we have kept our eyes on the prize that awaited at the end of this long journey! Our Sanibel Dream was completed in early February 2025. The pool, spa, tennis, and pickleball courts are completed! Pointe Santo as begun construction on a brand new expanded pool deck & pavilion (expected Summer 2025) as well as a new office and community building between the B and C buildings (in the location of the former F building).
